Joy is a researcher, multimedia producer and lecturer, specialising in collaborative media practice and feminist, queer and decolonial methodologies. Her research film انتي صامدة (She the Steadfast) (49mins, 2023) explores Palestinian women's lives and histories, and was developed through her PhD After the last stitch: Palestinian dresses and anticolonial feminist filmmaking (Sussex, 2023). Other recent work includes co-produced short film Mapping 'The Streets' (2024) with Dr Baljit Kaur, exploring experiences of violence among young women of colour in East London, and co-edited archival oral histories and photo book 'Treat Me Like Your Mother: Trans* Histories from Beirut's forgotten past' (2022), with Mohamad Abdouni. Previously, she edited Cold Cuts magazine (2021), curated screenings at Beirut Art Center ('Immaterial Collection II: Forum', 2018), produced Queer Narratives Beirut podcast (2018) and curated a group exhibition at P21 Gallery, London ('Autonomy of Self', 2015). Joy lectures in Media and Cultural studies.
